GRIP DROVE TO SUICIDE
A Reading Engineer Ended His Suf-
fering With a Pistol Bullet.
George Bender, an engineer employed
on the Reading Railway, committed
suicide at his home, No. 2913 A street,
yesterday morning, by shooting himself
in the head. He had been suffering
from the grip for several weeks. The
family was awakened about 5 o'clock
in the morning by a pistol shot, and
upon going to his room Bender was
found lying on the floor with a pistol
wound in his head. He died before a
physician could reach the house.

BENDER - Suddenly, on December 31, 1898,
George, husband of Dora Bender. The relatives
and friends of the family, also George W. Childs Lodge No. 1074, I.O.O.F., and members of the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Relief Association, and Penn Treaty Division No. 71, B. of L.G., are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock, from his late residence, 2913 A street. Inter-
ment at Northwood Cemetery.
