Death claimed a third aged victim Thursday following a two-car collision near Eugene Wednesday afternoon that resulted in the deaths of two other people at the time of the crash.

James Walker Pierce, 74, of Etterville, died at Humphrey Hospital Thursday , bringing the months highway death toll in Cole County to four persons.

Killed in the crash that occurred on Highway 17 a short distance north of Eugene were John Tinker Judd, 80, and his 75 year old wife, Mrs. Mary Judd.

Pierce told State Highway Patrol investigators the other car operated by Judd was on the wrong side of the highway. The two vehicles collided in efforts to avoid each other, authorities said.
