Her mothers name is Mary Morton, and her mother's maiden name is Carver. So it appears she went by the name of Morton for her maiden name. She was a widow to John St Clair. This union created one child Mary St. Clair as seen on the census records for Peter Gatts and Mary Morton. Together Peter and Mary L Morton had several daughters and a son named Robert Sherman Gatts. Robert S died in WV while away from his home in Kent OH. The informer gave the wrong maiden name of his mother as Mary Lucinda McWhorter. His middle initial is also incorrect on his DC form WV (G). So these other names appears in several other data banks as you will see. Mary's daughter Mary St Clair married a John H. Sivert. Mary's mother name as listed on the WV Index Register of Deaths of Marshall Co names her mother as Mary Lucinda Morton.
