Donald Allyn was the son of Harold Glenn Allyn and Helen Nelson Allyn.

Donald Lyndon Allyn, 86, of Lacey died of a stroke Dec. 8 in Lacey.

He was born and raised in Madison Lake, Minn. His parents were Glenn and Helen (Nelson). He graduated from Minnesota State Teachers College in Mankato, Minn. He went on to attend the University of Washington, graduating in 1942 with a master's degree. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served in Asia. He was a teacher at Peninsula High School for 20 years before retiring in 1980. He was also the associate editor for the Navy Yard Salute in Bremerton in the 1940s. He was a member of the Northwest Native Plant Society, the Puget Sound Orchid Society and the Hermit Society.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Kincaid; and his brother, Kenneth Allyn.

Memorial service: Spring 2007 in Vaughn. Inurnment: Vaughn Cemetery in Vaughn. Arrangements: Mills and Mills in Tumwater.
