Kenneth Warren Allyn, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at his home on Angel Island.

He was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Madison Lake, Minn., to Glenn and Helen Nelson Allyn. He grew up and attended school in Madison Lake and Mankato, Minn. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1936.

During World War II he moved to Bremerton, Wash., where he went to work in the shipyards as a ship fitter. He married Mary Robinson on March 29, 1952, at Mary's parents' home in Bremerton.

He retired from the shipyards in June of 1973 and moved to Troy in 1981. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a past master of the Hood Canal Lodge #288 in Belfair, Wash.; a Monarch of El Zore Grotto and president of Northwest Grotto Association, and a life member of the Old Bastards Club. He enjoyed hunting fishing, gunsmithing, making bullets, tying flies, and rebuilding motors. He was a very active person.

A sister, Bonnie, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Mary (Jo) Allyn of Troy; four sons, Charles Allyn and wife Peggy of Libby, Kenneth Allyn and wife Debra of Shelton, Wash.; David Allyn and wife Debra of Libby and Gordon Allyn and wife Michell of Troy; brother Donald Allyn of Victor, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, at the Church of God in Troy. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Friday. Local arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby. There will be a reception to follow the service at the Halfway House.
