He was born in Watauga County to Benjamin and Rebecca Cook Tester. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are four sons, one daughter, a brother, six sisters, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church by Reverends Clyde Cornett, J.H. Crisp and Carl Wilson. Burial was in the family cemetery.
