She attended school in Langdon, and was a homemaker and also owned and operated Betty's Clay Cottage. She and her husband moved to Hutchinson in 1967, from Harper. Betty married Floyd Brubaker on Dec. 11, 1938, in Hutchinson. He died Oct. 6, 1993.
Survivors include: two sons, Lee Brubaker of Buhler, and David Brubaker and his wife Goldie of Hutchinson; two daughters, Judy A. Silcott and Jean Winchell and her husband Gary, all of Kiowa; two brothers, Robert Skellenger of Hutchinson and Jerry Skellenger of Nickerson; two sisters, Barbara Hobbick of Hutchinson and Edith McReynolds of Castleton; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth L. Brubaker; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; a great-granddaughter; and a great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kim Biery presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. A visitation will be Saturday 5 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
