Came to the U.S. from his native Switzerland in 1878, settling in Savannah, GA. Married Florence Keller of Chatham, GA, also a native of Switzerland, on Apr. 2, 1882. They were the parents of three daughters and three sons. In 1886 they moved to Shreveport, La. Achille Goetschel was a master watchmaker who had studied the craft in Switzerland. His watches are all one of a kind handcrafted works of art which today are exceedingly rare. In addition to watchmaking he also was a jeweler and the proprietor of Shreveport's premier jewelry store of the very late 19th and early 20th centuries.
