Berkley Felix Allen was born and lived in Blanch community of Caswell County, North Carolina. He was a mechanic who owned and operated a garage and country store. He and his wife, Isma, operated the store and repair shop at that location until 1941 when the road was relocated. Consequently they built a new store and garage about a quarter mile west on the new road.
