After a lingering illness, Jacob Scott died at his home east of town, July 27th, aged 67 years.
The deceased was born in Ohio in 1846 but came to this vicinity with his parents when about seven years of age and has made this his home since that time.
He was a veteran of the Civil War having enlisted in the 86th regiment, Wisconsin Volunteers, and served for a year and a half. He was married to Miss Margaret McCue 46 years ago, and to them 13 children were born, eleven still living and two died in infancy.
Those living are Mrs. Foster Soper of Birchwood, Wis., Mrs. Gus Arthur of Broken Bow, Neb., Mrs. Rasmussen of Milwaukee, Mrs. Nora Risner of Orangeville, Frank, James, Oscar, Jake, John, Jonas and Cora are all living in this vicinity. He also leaves two sisters and two brothers. He has been in poor health for two years and was seriously ill for ten months.
His funeral was held in the Methodist Church at 2:00 o'clock on Tuesday, Rev. Pengilly preached the sermon.
