Renee Edwards Anderson passed away May 13, 1998 in Ivory Coast, West Africa from injuries suffered in a single car roll-over while serving an LDS mission with her husband, Dale.
Renee was born January 13, 1930 to Mclairon and Gladys Lucille Edwards. She was married to Dale E. Anderson August 12, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Renee was known for opening up her heart and home to all she met on life's path. She had an exuberance for life and all it's little pleasures. Mom loved gatherings of all sorts, she loved to be with friends and family and any of her parties were a "take me as I am" and "come as you are". The exceptional love she had for her husband, eight children and 13 grandchildren was portrayed in everything that she did. Mom had an undying faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and willingly served in any capacity she was called to within the LDS Church.
Renee graduated from East High School (1947) and the University of Utah (1951) in Elementary Education. She taught school for approximately 18 years and retired (1995) as a kindergarten teacher from Dillworth Elementary School in SLC, Utah.
Renee is survived by her husband, Dale; her eight children, Laurie (Jim) Butler; Tad (Ellen) Anderson; Karen Abbott; Tamara (David) Harper; Robyn Hoffman; Kristin Anderson; Toni Anderson; and Stephen Gary Anderson. She had 13 grandchildren. The eldest, Jimmy Abbott, she often referred to as her "youngest". Jeremy, Jennifer, Aimee, Nicole and Daniel Butler; Sofie and Mia Anderson; Sara, Taylor and Dylan Harper; Connor and Brynnley Hoffman will all miss the stories their grandmother loved to read to them. Renee was also survived by her two sisters, Clair Carter, and Gayle Haldeman; and one brother, Robert Edwards. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her twin brother, Penrose Edwards, who died shortly after birth.
Renee Anderson left family and friends alike a great legacy of love. Her gifts of compassion, kindness, caring, faith and understanding will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, on Friday, May 22 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, May 23 from 10-11 a.m. at the Ensign Stake Center 689 18th Avenue. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Interment in Salt Lake City Cemetery.
