MONTPELIER — Thiel Hymas Johnson, 93, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at the Bear Lake Skilled Nursing Facility in Montpelier, Idaho. He was born July 1, 1912, in Ovid, Idaho, to Isaac and Martha Jane Hymas Johnson.
He married Ione Smedley on August 28, 1936. They were later divorced. Four children were born to this union: Theone, Wayne, Sandra and Lynn. He later married Ethel Kunz Hansen on August 29, 1947. Ethel had one son, Derek Hansen.
Thiel and Ethel served for several years working in the Los Angeles Temple before moving to Bear River City, Utah. It was here that he purchased a farm, and together they were called to work in the Ogden Temple. His past few years have been spent in Montpelier, Idaho.
Thiel is survived by his children, several grandchildren, and one sister, June Solum, and Leah Johnson, a sister-in-law; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and six brothers, Melvin, Rulon, Bartell, Ova, Elzo, and Harmon, and two sisters, Marietta and Wanda.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, at 10 a.m. in the Bern LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday in the Bern LDS Chapel.
