OBITUARY Iron River Reporter June 6 1947 "Mrs. F. Hartley Is Dead At 79; Rites Saturday"
Mrs. Fred Hartley, 79, a resident of Iron River for 54 years, died yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock at her Iron lake home. In ill health for five years, she had been an invalid for the past three years.
The former Mary Elizabeth Moore, Mrs. Hartley was born Dec. 16, 1867 at Nanticoke, Ontario, Canada. She was married to Mr. Hartley in Buffalo, N.Y. in 1892 and they moved to Iron River in September, 1893.
Mr. Hartley conducted a tailoring shop here for 23 years and in 1918 the family moved to a farm near Iron lake.
Surviving are her husband, three sons, Andrew, chief linotype machinist with the Daily Globe, Ironwood, Larry, Iron River city mail carrier, and Russell, custodian of the Iron River Country club, and two daughters, Mrs. William McNulty, Chicago, formerly Vera Hartley, and Mrs. Elmer Anderson, Stambaugh, the former Eloise Hartley.
She also leaves 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The body is at the Johns chapel where funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Marcus J. Brown, pastor of St. John's Episcopal. Interment will be in the family lot in Iron River cemetery.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Johns chapel for Mrs. Fred Hartley, 79, who died Thursday at her Iron lake home after a long illness.
Rev. Marcus J. Brown, St. John's Episcopal pastor, officiated. Interment was in Iron River cemetery. Pallbearers were Herbert E. Hagelin, Joe Rucinski, M.E. Oberg, Gust Ruus, Forrest Sensiba and Charles Wunder.
Here from out-of-town for the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hartley, Mrs. James Langdon and Mrs. Gardner LaMarche of Ironwood, Mrs. Robert Lagerlund, Mrs. William McNulty and Miss Marguerite McNulty, Chicago.
