NEEDMORE, Pa. - Gerald L. "Buzz" Strait, 72, of 8388 Great Cove Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born March 19, 1934, in Needmore, he was the son of the late Blair D. and Clair M. Sipe Strait.
He retired as a truck driver from the Area Agency on Aging after 12 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of Needmore Bible Church.
He was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 45, and a member and on the board of directors of Needmore Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Haines Strait, whom he married Aug. 1, 1963; one daughter, Geraldine M. Strait of Warfordsburg, Pa.; one son, Denis L. Strait of Needmore; one sister, Leila Strait of McConnellsburg, Pa.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Strait and Junior Strait; and one grandson.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home in McConnellsburg. Pastor Doug Poffenberger and Pastor Dick Bernhard will officiate. Burial will be in Siloam United Methodist Cemetery in Harrisonville, Pa., with graveside military services by the Fulton Honor Guard.
