ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Clyde A. Strait, 73, of 5355 Jack Road, died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Oct. 4, 1927, in Needmore, Pa., he was the son of the late Blair and Clara Sipes Strait.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arminda L. Ulsh, in 1993.

He was a supervisor in the ammunition department at Letterkenny Army Depot for 37 1/2 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member and past commander of Amvets 224; a member of Dietrich-Brechbill American Legion of St. Thomas; DAV of St. Thomas; Forty and Eight; and Sad Sacks.

He is survived by two daughters, Billie Gelsinger of Chambersburg and Donna Elser of Deltona, Fla.; a son, Donald Strait of St. Thomas; a sister, Lelia Strait of McConnellsburg, Pa.; two brothers, Junior Strait of Chambersburg and Gerald Strait of Needmore, Pa.; six grandchildren; four great-grandsons; and a step-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey Faye Strait, in 1997.

Services were held Thursday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave. in Chambersburg. Pastor Randy Brandt officiated. Burial was in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was held Thursday, May 3, from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
