RAYMOND JACOB SCHIMELPFENIG, 91, a resident of Dallas, Oregon died Saturday, August 6, 2011. He was born on September 4, 1919 in Tangent, Oregon the son of Oregon Pioneers Ellis and Nellie Needham Schimelpfenig (Yachats and Lebanon respectively). He worked for the Civil Conservation Corp (CCC), fought fires in Idanha and cut hop poles with his uncle in Valsetz. He worked on farms and in lumber mills until he retired. Ray lived in Lebanon, Aberdeen, Washington, Forest Grove, Tillamook and Montesano, Washington before moving to Dallas in January of 1999. He has been a resident of Jefferson Manor where he enjoyed living. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing. He won gold medals as a participant in the Special Olympics. He also enjoyed singing and music.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by is siblings Ruth Balow, Velma Flowers, Marion Jones, Arthur and Gordon Schimelpfenig.

A graveside service will begin at 1:00 pm Monday, August 15th in the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Viewing will be from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm Sunday, August 14th in the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center.
