Death of Mrs. Hightower.
Only a Short Time Since the Demise of Her Lamented Sister.

Mrs. Mary Hightower died at her home in the city last Thursday morning. While she was feeble, yet her death was sudden and unexpected. Only about eight days previously had her sister, Miss Sarah Bachelor (Bachelder), died in the same house. The family is prominently connected with the history of LaFayette, and is noted for its intellectual attainments. The deceased leaves three sisters of her immediate family: Miss Lizzie Bachelder and Mrs. W. D. Wood, of LaFayette; and Miss Julia Bachelder, of Washington, D. C. The funeral took place at the city cemetery witnessed by sorrowing relatives and sympathetic friends.

In Memoriam.

On the 30th day of November 1905, the gentle spirit of Mrs. Mary Hightower, daughter of Mr. J. M. and Mrs. C. M. Bachelder and widow of Mr. I. M. Hightower, passed from earth to heaven. By the mercy of her gracious heavenly Father, she was granted a long pilgrimage in this world, and all along the way she was a joy and a blessing to those she loved. For many years a consistent and loyal member of the Methodist Church, she lived the life of faith. Through long years she was a faithful wife and mother and a devoted sister. Her two sons, Thos. W. and Clarence, died years ago. The former is well remembered as a successful man of affairs, whose word was as good as his bond and a most public minded citizen.
The life and the death of Mrs. Hightower is another bright example of the power of the Christian religion to make both life and death happy and peaceful. She leaves her grandchildren a precious heritage of priceless value. It is theirs to follow along the way of faith and trust and so honor the memory of her who has gone on before them to the land of eternal rest. One of the most blessed teaching of the Holy Scriptures is that some sweet day all who love and trust God shall find eternal reunion around the great white throne.
