Robert was born in VA and was the son of John B. Dennis and Harriet H. McAtee. He was first married to Margaret Jane Parkhill(5 February 1836-1 Feb 1874) They had the following children:Nell, Anna, Hamilton and Robert M. He then married Isabelle Mitchell, born in March 1851 in Valier, IL. They had the following children:Emma B., Grace P., Nancy E., and Raymond F.
