Son of John B. Dennis. Married Isabel Parkhill in Randolph County, IL on 21 August 1851. He had the following children: Morrison W., Harriet H., Samuel P., James B., and Matilda. Many of his relatives are buried in the Dennis Cemetary in Randolph Co., IL. His stone states 5th MO Cavalry. That is an error it was the 5th IL. Several years ago documentation was given to the Park Service, and they said eventually they would correct the error. (2011)
