Morton Lake, 1121 North Sixth street, died Friday morning at 4 o'clock at the home of John Jackson, 17 South Thirty-first street, where he had gone to make a call Wednesday afternoon, and was stricken with apoplexy. Mr. Lake was born September 6, 1863, near Stockwell, the son of Thomas and Jane (Campbell) Lake. Most of his life was spent near Stockwell, until he moved to Lafayette six years ago. He is survived by his widow, who was Etta Whitteberry; one son, Marvin; and one daughter, Mrs. Harley Sheperd, both of Lafayette; three brothers, Ambrose, of Woodward, Okla., James and Thomas of Elgin, Okla., and two sisters, Miss Neva Lake of Elgin, Okla., and Mrs. Harry Holiday of Mulberry. The body was taken to the Baker funeral parlors at Dayton and will be taken to the family home 1121 North Sixth street, Saturday noon. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Monroe U. B. church with the Rev. Walter Roudebush in charge. Salem cemetery.
