Funeral services will take place 1 pm Tuesday at the Lux Funeral Home in Mt Pleasant with the Rev. Patrick Jankowiak of Sacred Heart Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr Davis was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Rosebush, the son of Robert F. and Katherine (McElhaney) Davis. A life resident of Mt. Pleasant, he married Ellen I. Riggle in Mt. Pleasant on April 8, 1983.
He was veteran of the armed forces as a paratrooper in the 82nd airborne division for four years. He worked for the City of Mt. Pleasant for 37 years and enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping and fishing.
John is survived by his wife, Ellen of Mt. Pleasant; three children, Joanne and her husband Steven Pratt of Mason, Robert F. Davis and his wife Lisa of Jupiter, Fla., and Laura and her husband Perry Bard of Boca Raton, Fla; two step-daughters, Ruth Ann and her husband Russell Gimmey of Grand Ledge and Mary Lou and her husband Carl Coffell of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren, Justin Bard, Andrew Pratt, and Brian Pratt; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren, and a brother, Mark Davis and his wife Janet of Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents.
