Darwin "Jim" Bravard, 73, of Mt. Vernon died 10:45 a.m., Oct. 12, 2006 at his home.

Darwin was born on February 13, 1933 in Nason to Verner Bravard and Pauline (Rigsby) Bravard. He married Kay Williams on June 2, 1956 in Mt. Vernon.

Darwin was the Owner, Operator and Contractor of Bravard's Septic Service for over 40 years.

Graveside service will be held at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville. Full Military Honors will be conducted by members of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141.

He is survived by wife Kay Bravard of Mt. Vernon; daughter Brenda Singler of Mt. Vernon; grand-children Dustin and Dianna Singler of Mt. Vernon; step-mother (who raised him) Sarah Lingo of Mt. Vernon; sisters Darlene Farr and husband Bill of Mt. Vernon, Ina Mae Farr and husband Russell of Mt. Vernon, Ruth Mahue and husband Chuck of Festus, Mo. Several nieces and nephews and cousins also survive including special cousins Dick Jones and wife Ople of Nason, Junior Jones and wife Sue of Nason; brother-in-law Ken Williams and wife Carol of Bellwood; sister-in-law Sue Neal and husband David of Dix; former son-in-law James A. Singler of Belleville.

His parents, his son Darwin Carl Bravard, Jr, one sister and her husband Chestine and Don Richards, and brother-in-law Gary Ben Williams and Don Richards preceded him in death.

Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War from ‘53-57, was a member of the Jefferson County Sportsman's Club, the AMVETS, and was a past member of the V.F.W. He loved and lived for his family, especially his grand kids; he was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener.
