FRANK LAWRENCE
Frank Devol Lawrence, son of Clark and Sarah Lawrence, was born at Corning, Iowa, on December 11, 1873 and died at his home in Forsyth, Montana, February 28, 1962. Lawrence attended, schools at Corning and in Kansas, later attending the University of Kansas at Lincoln. Kansas. He taught school in Iowa for several years before moving to Montana in 1917. He farmed on the Forsyth flat until 1923 when he was elected county Clerk and Recorder, a post he held until he resigned that office to take post of clerk of the district court, where he served until January of 1937.
Mr. Lawrence then entered the Insurance and real estate field and was also justice of the peace and police magistrate for Forsyth until his retirement in 1958.
He married Leathie Barker at Corning, Iowa on May 19, 1897. She died in January of 1938. He remarried on March 31, 1940 to Mrs. Bertha Harswark.
Surviving are his widow, three sons, Clark H. Lawrence of Cody Wyoming, Ralph B. Lawrence of Laurel, Montana; three daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Christman of Lewiston, Montana, Mrs. Gladys Pemberton and Mrs. Leona Clark of Forsyth; 22 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from Beals Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m., Monday, March 5, 1962, Rev. Forrest Williams officitaing. Burial was in the family plot of Forsyth Cemetery.
