Deacon James "Shine" Odom, 82, died Tuesday at Pecan Manor Nursing Home after a short illness. He was a native of Bulloch County, a member of Thomas Grove Baptist Church, a World War II veteran of the United States Army, and was retired from Georgia Southern University.
Survivors include three daughters, Addie O. Jackson, Statesboro, Mary Frances Odom-Lee, Oakland, Calif., and Mattie Lewis, Statesboro; three sons, Billy Moore, Statesboro, Anthony Odom, Philadelphia, Pa., and the Rev. Charlie Odom, Chesilhurst, N.J.; three sisters, Mary Robinson, Statesboro, Alice Humphries, Savannah, and Emma Z. Odom, Savannah; and one brother, James P. Odom, Savannah.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Thomas Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Hayward Dock officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery. James R. Barnes Mortuary.
