War record: "Farmer, single, aged twenty-one; enlisted from Cobleskill, N.Y., on Dec 19, 1863; served with Battery M, Third Regiment, Heavy Artillery; discharged with his battery June 26, 1865;" took part in many engagements, including City Point, Fort Powhatan and the siege of Petersburg.
