Lorenzo Draper was a merchant in Boston, New York, and Paris. He was appointed U.S. Consul at Paris by President Harrison, 15 Mar, 1841, succeeding Consul Brent. He held office unitil Aug 1844. Subsequently he was appointed U.S. Consul to Havre by President Tyler, 29 May 1849, and held this office until 1 June 1853.
He was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Co. of Boston. He was also a member of the New England Guards, a light infantry company organized in Boston 22 Sep 1812; on 13 Jun 1814, they were ordered to guard the U.S. Navy Yard at Charleston, Mass.
