Dorothy Maurine Mowrey Halverson Mitchell, age 82, of Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully Friday June 15, 2001 She was born April 30, 1919, in Salt Lake City, UT to Charles and Isabelle Butte Mowrey. On Nov. 19, 1941, she married Ray L. Halverson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1953, leaving her a young widow. On Oct 25, 1955, she married Bartlett C. Mitchell in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1983.Always a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dorothy served a mission to the East Central States in 1939-1940, and later in life served in the Harrisburg, PA Mission with her husband, Bart. She loved to sing and spent many wonderful years as a member of the Mormon Tabernacle choir. Dorothy was an avid genealogist and enjoyed knitting, camping and traveling. She was very much loved by her family. Dorothy is survived by her three children, LuRae (John) Ferguson, West Jordan, Don (Nancy) Halverson, Sandy, Maureen (Rick) Sutherland, Park City; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. Services will be Tues. June 19, 2001, 12 noon, Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E. where friends may call Mon- 6-8 p.m. and Tues, one hour prior to services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
