From New York. Died at the age of 47 of cardiac asthma. Buried in the Grand Army of the Republic plot.

Noridon S. Bennett, a resident of Lamartine, Wisconsin, enlisted on May 10, 1864, as a Private in Company C, 40th Wisconsin Infantry. Mustered out on Sept. 16, 1864, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Pension certificate #563,826 (Apr. 10, 1882).

Sacramento Daily Union, Volume 89, Number 64, 7 May 1895: "ANOTHER VETERAN GONE. Death of N. S. Bennett, a Prominent Grand Amy Member. Greatly to the surprise and pain of his many friends, N. S. Bennett died on Sunday night. Mr. Bennett was an old resident of this city and a prominent member of the Grand Army of the Republic. Some fifteen years ago he and James J. Keegan published a Sunday paper here. After retiring therefrom he engaged in various occupations, and for several years was a letter-carrier for the Post office. He has since been a collector, Constable, etc. Deceased was known as a sober, industrious, honorable man, and was highly esteemed. His funeral will take place at 3:15 o'clock this afternoon from George H. Clark's undertaking parlors on Fourth street, under the auapices of Sumner Post, G. A. R."
