Bio

I was born in Sacramento, California and lived there for 56 years until I retired in 2013. I now live in the Texas Hill Country.

The Old Historic Sacramento City Cemetery is not only a historical landmark, it is a beautiful place to visit. The best time to visit the cemetery is in the Spring time when all the flowers are in bloom. If you love old cemeteries, i'm sure you would enjoy looking at the Old Historic Sacramento City Cemetery Photo Gallery on my family website.

My profile picture is a picture of the stained glass window in the John Watt mausoleum.

Over the years, the toombstones and monuments at the Old Historic Sacramento City Cemetery have been vandalized and stolen, and a lot of the toombstones can hardly be read any more. Just take a look at some of the memorials and you can see how bad some of the headstones are. It was my goal to photograph as many of the old and decaying headstones so that they can at least be preserved in photographs on this website.

In creating the memorials, I tried to be as accurate as possible. I used the information on the headstone and the information on the Sacramento City Cemetery Burial Index ("The Marsh Index"). If there was a discrepancy, I did additional research on the internet. Anyone that does genealogical research knows that people make mistakes and that the records are not always accurate; mostly due to trying to decipher cursive writing. So if you believe any information in any of the memorials is inaccurate, please let me know.

I also look for newspaper birth, marriage and death notices for the people I create memorials for. Newspaper articles are a real good source of information, and great for linking family members. I used the California Digital Newspaper Collection .

If you send me a suggestion or correction for a memorial please provide some documentation or other evidence to support it.

Thank you.
