FORT WORTH -- Burl Elder, 94, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2004, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel, Fort Worth. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burl was born to the late Paul Elder and Sarah Jane Burleson, on Jan. 21, 1910, in Seagraves. When he was 7 years old his family traveled across Texas in covered wagons. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Burl was a devoted church member and served as a deacon at Travis Avenue Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. Burl played golf and loved to play dominoes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delma on March 29, 2004, and his parents, three brothers and three sisters. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Survivors: Daughters, Mildred Jean Stone of Nacogdoches, Barbara Gail Bogart and husband, Carl Daniel of Fort Worth, Patricia Kay Cearley and husband Ronald of Levelland; grandchildren, Sheri Plexco, Susie Guyton, Teresa Hitt, Tom Bogart, Jeffry Bogart, Robert Bogart, Matthew Dean, Shelby Cearley, Kathryn Cearley, Anthony Cearley; great grandchildren, Jeremy Plexco, Dana Gardner, Christi Plexco, Emily Guyton, Andrew Guyton, Amber Bogart, Elizabeth Bogart; great great grandchildren, Haleigh Gardner, Dylan Gardner; sister, Opal Elder Patterson of Fort Worth; sister in law, Ann Elder of New York City.
