Funeral services for Mrs. Bell (Payne) Baird were held from the Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 with Rev. M. H. Godfrey officiating, assisted by Rev. J. E. Shewbert.
Mrs. Baird died suddenly Monday morning following an illness of only a few hours. She was laid to rest in the Loraine Cemetary by the side of her husband who died in 1936, and two sons Raymond and Roy who died in 1938 and 1940 respectively.
Arrangements were in charge of G. W. Hendrick.
Mrs. Baird was born at Tullahoma, Tennessee, September 9, 1866. She moved to Travis County Texas in 1870 and to Williamson County a few years later. She was married to I. B. Baird at Prairie Springs, Williamson County, December 22, 1886. To this union ten children were born, eight of whom survive.
They moved to Loraine several years ago and made their home here until death. She joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church when 13.
The children who survive are: Hershel Baird, San Antonio; Mrs. Avus Brooks, Breckenridge; Mrs. Bessie Dandy, Houston; Mrs. Nola Bennett, Loraine; Elmer Baird, San Antonio; Mrs. Connie Holt, Trinidad, Colorado; Lowell Baird, Graham; and Vernon Baird, Big Spring.
