VICTOR R. SCHMIDT, JR.
Victor R. Schmidt, Jr. 56, of 5718 Louise Lane, died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Austin, a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Travis Chapter of Texas Society of Professional Engineers, a veteran of World War II, Navy, and was director of City of Austin Water and Waste Department.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Opal Schmidt of Austin; two daughters, Mrs. Samuel A. West, Jr. of Austin and Mrs. A.F. Matula of Round Rock; one son, Victor R. Schmidt III of Austin; three sisters, Mrs. Edward M. Tomsu of Austin, Mrs. George Hollas of Cameron and Mrs. A. G. McCormick of Raymondville; one brother, A. E. Schmidt of St. Louis, MO; mother, Mrs. V. R. Schmidt, Sr. of St. Louis, MO; and four grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Louis Cathloic Church with Rev. Msgr. Edward Matocha officiating. Rosary was recited Wednesday evening at Weed-Corley Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph J. Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Harold G. Robinson, H. W. Curington, Albert M. Eldridge, Reuben S. Rountree, Albert Ullrich, Col. W.L. Seals, James P. Fort and S.A. Garza.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Andrews, Albert R. Davis, Jr., R.M. Tintsman, W. T. Williams, Jr., Guiton Morgan, Charles Clinger, Maurice Kelly, Joffre Meyer, Curtis Johnson, Carl J. Eckhardt, Woodrow Townsend, Pent Lindgren, Members of American Water Works Association, members of St. Thomas Holy Family Guild, members of Capital Area Water Association, City of Austin department directors and all employees of City of Austin Waste Water and Treatment Department.
