Graveside services for longtime Taft resident Carl F. Hagin will be held at the West Side District Cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 1998. Mr. Hagin, 83, passed away at a Bakersfield hospital on Sunday after a brief illness. Mr. Hagin was born on Sept. 25, 1914 in Niles, Okla. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eddie McCabe Hagin (Married on Dec. 24, 1938); daughter Mary Ann Hagin Morrow; two sisters, Ruby Bright and Alta Haag; and two brothers, Lester Hagin and Guy Hagin. Mr. Hagin moved to California in January of 1958. He married Hettie Rowland Hagin on June 6, 1981. Mr. Hagin is survived by his wife Hettie, one son Jerry Hagin of Taft and his wife Betty; two daughters, Cathy Roberts of Reedley, and Betty Jo Shelby of Taft; three stepdaughters, Betty Price of Omak, Wash., and her husband Ken, Edith Rowland Patin of Taft, and Peggy Harmon of Bakersfield and her husband David. Mr. Hagin had 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan who had been a supporter of Taft College for many years and especially liked to watch the TC softball team play. He enjoyed taking walks, spending time with his wife and playing with his great grandchildren. He was a long time member of Trinity Baptist Church in Taft. He will be missed by his family and friends. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the Taft Funeral Home on Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m.
