Daughter of John Henry Allen and Joanna Berea Hill, one of seven children. Her siblings were John Hollie, Cora Lee, Lonnie, Josaphine, Paul, and Jack (she was the youngest daughter). Her first job was teaching school in Flint, Texas at 18 years old. She met her husband, John M. Connolly while he was playing minor leaque baseball for Rusk, TX. They married in 1920. Their three children; John Michael Connolly, James Douglas Connolly, and Barbara Joan Wilson.
