Louis A Boatner of Dallas the son of Mr and Mrs J W Boatner [both deceased by 1917] entered service in the U S Army in June 1917 and was assigned to Company E, 117th Supply Train, 42 Infantry Division. He went overseas 17 November 1917,
and participated in battles of Champagne, Marne, Aisne, St. Michiel, and Meuse-Grgonne. He was discharged at end of the war. He was a Welder by trade after the war. His mother and a twin sister died soon after he was born, and his father, a Civil War Veteran, passed away when he was 15. It is believed that he was raised for the most part by his older sister who was only five years older than him. Both of them lived in the Dallas area after the death of their parents.
