Edgar Hood McElroy, Jr. ("Bodie")

Edgar Hood McElroy, Jr. was born on June 20, 1921 in Waxahachie, Texas to the parents of Edgar Hood McElroy and Zona Myrle (Anderson) McElroy. Bo graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock as a Mechanical Engineer. An earlier broken leg caused by trying to tackle a mustang horse, resulted in him being turned down at least once by every service during World War II. Finally, through dogged determination (which was his nature), he was accepted by the U.S. Navy and even served over seas with a crooked leg. He was a "handyman all his life and could fix anything. Bodie owned a warehouse operation and several other businesses, including an armored car service. He died February 1, 1997 from renal failure in Sherman, Texas.

Dorothy was the oldest daughter of Oliver and Nell Clift, he a former Mayor, and she a former First Lady. Dorothy was born in Waxahachie on February 24, l926 and died on July 2, 2008. She is buried in Waxahachie along side of Bodie and other members of the Clift family.

Ed III graduated from Texas Tech and Baylor Dental School. He practices in El Paso and is married to Jan. They have two sons, Mark and Miles. Oliver runs his dad's warehouse business as well as his own computer service company and also manages the family farm in Waxahachie. Oliver has a son, Oliver Jr. and a daughter Carter.
