On June I, 1925, she married William G. Zahn at Charles City, IA. After their marriage they farmed near Hartley before moving to the Harris area in 1933. They moved to their present farm in 1945. On the farm she always took care of the chickens and kept active with the daily operations of her home. Nellie was proud that she lived on this farm for more than fifty years She loved baseball, her house plants, reading, gardening, canning, and a good political argument. On a daily basis she would watch the markets and keep current on the world news. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Harris.
She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Dunn of Sibley; Marianne (Richard) Keim of Loveland, CO; and Kay (Virgil) Nattress of Storm Lake, IA and by her eight grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, and a sister in-law, Louise Dather of Marshall, MN, along with many nieces and nephews.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, three brothers, two sisters, and one son-in-law.
