Sallie Belle (Smith) Hempel was born April 14, 1915 in Waco, Texas to the late James Calvin Smith and Sarah (Erwin) Smith. She passed from this life on July 27, 2011 at the age of 96.

Survivors: Daughters, Sally Lou and husband Eugene L. Jacobs and Angeline and James W. Hutt all of Victoria, Texas, four grand children, eight great grand children, and three great-great grand children.

Sallie was a devout Christian and member of the church of Christ. The example she displayed of her unwavering faith and devotion to God will be remembered.

While raising her family she worked for R.B. Department Store in Hungerford, TX, Houston Natural Gas Co., Wharton, TX, and Texas Gulf Sulphur Co. in Newgulf, TX.

A graveside service will held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville, TX with Mr. Chris Maher officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E Locust Ave., Victoria, TX 77901 or donors choice.
