She was born Feb. 28, 1907, at Provo, Utah, to Martin Horton and Marilla Daniels Graham. She grew up in Provo and graduated from Provo High School. She attended the University of Utah before transferring to Brigham Young University, where she earned a degree in journalism and English.
On Aug. 14, 1930, she married Archibald Thomas Grimmett in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She taught at Huntington, Utah, and then at Moreland, Idaho. They made their home in Idaho Falls and she taught at O.E. Bell Junior High School in 1944. From 1957 until retiring in 1972, she taught at Idaho Falls High School, where she was head of the English Department for 12 years. She was a cashier at the school's athletic events, had worked as a cashier at the YMCA during summers, as a clerk at J.C. Penney Co. during the holidays, and took boarders into her home. Following retirement, she tutored at VoTech. She was a charter member and served as president and secretary of the Idaho Council Teachers of English.
She served on the Mayor's Committee for Hiring the Handicapped and was a member of the American Association of University Women.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as ward librarian and as a den mother in the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed visiting the elderly, reading, and she loved good chocolate.
Survivors include her son, William S. Grimmett of Idaho Falls; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Robert G. Grimmett; and two brothers.
