Stanley Leon Barczewski, 85, of Elkton, MD, died Tuesday in Union Hospital of Cecil County, MD. Mr. Barczewski, a farmer, was a musician who lead the Royalists, a popular Wilmington, DE, dance band in the 1930's and 1940's. After that, he ran the Avenue Food Market on Maryland Avenue in Wilmington, and then with his brother, Herman, operated Barczewski Brothers Meat Products on Eighth Avenue in the Browntown Section of Wilmington until 1973. He was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Pulaski Legion in Wilmington; was a life member of the VFW Post 3257 in Wilmington; and was an associate member of the VFW Post 6027, North East, MD. Survivors: wife of 51 years, Agnes G. Barczewski; sons, Stanley C. and Thomas S., both of Fair Hill, MD, and Richard A. of Smyrna, DE; daughters, Mary A. Barczewski, of Paris, France, and Katherine Straughn of Fair Hill, MD; brothers, Herman and Walter Barczewski, both of Wilmington, DE; sisters, Margaret Grabowski and Lucy Pietlock, both of Wilmington, DE; eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Mass: noon Saturday, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Elkton, MD. Visitation: 10 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton.
