Walter Barczewski
Age 87, of Wilmington, DE. passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2010.
Walter is survived by his wife Florence (Bogucki) of 58 years. He is also survived by sons James (Patricia), Mark and John.
Walter was a graduate of Goldey College. Walter lived a full life owning three farms since he was forty six years old. He loved breeding Appaloosa Horses, collecting knives and playing golf. He had a passion for music mastering many musical instruments. He also managed his big band, "The Commanders." Walter began selling Insurance and Real Estate in the 1960's on Maryland Avenue. He was a member of the Appraisal Institute, achieving the MAI designation. He worked for Artisan's Bank as a review appraiser until recently.
Walter was a Veteran of WW II where he enlisted in the Navy and later worked as a Marine medic. He served in the South Pacific and was part of the Guadalcanal Campaign. He will be remembered for his good sense of humor which was appreciated by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors also include 6 grandchildren. Laura, Matthew, Rebecca, Jaclyn, Rory, Devin and one great grandchild, Erick.
Viewing will be held on Friday, July 23, at 10-11 am at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME on Limestone and Milltown Road where funeral services will begin at 11 am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
