Charles had a light complexion, blue eyes and light brown hair. He stood at about 5'8" tall. He was a farmer by trade.

Charles was married to Naomi Arves Casteel Norton Fosting and stepfather to her sons Charles Norton and Fred Norton.

California Death Index has his date of death listed as December 29, 1914. The year of death on his gravestone appears to be incorrect. The family last name was actually spelled as "Fosting". However, it was spelled incorrectly many times including on their own gravestones! There are recordings in the family bible having it spelled as Fosting. My grandmother, who knew her grandparents very well, told me many times that the last name was Fosting and that there was never supposed to be an "r" in their last name.
