ROCKFORD - Paul M. Schaffner, 82, of Willshire, died at noon Sunday in Veteran's Administration Hospital, Fort Wayne. He had been ill for one month. Born Aug. 8, 1891, in Willshire, he was the son of John F. and Nancy Jane (Roop) Schaffner.
Survivors include his widow, the former Eva Marbaugh, whom he married Sept. 15, 1921; six sons, John of Needles, Calif., Paul L. and George, both of Willshire, Robin of Celina, James of Willshire and Francis of Rockford; six daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Roos of Lakeview, Mrs. Nancy Hildbold of Celina, Mrs. Ruth Smalley of Lima, Mrs. Martha Jerrett of Celina, Rachel Smalley of Lima and Mrs. Eleanore Buffenbarger of Wren; a stepson, Rolland Marbaugh of Willshire; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Keller and Mrs. Selma Price, both of Decatur, Ind., and Mrs. Ether Lotter of Fort Wayne; a granddaughter, who had been reared in the home, Mrs. Laura Stock of Alhambra, Calif.; 54 other grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Schaffner was a veteran of World War I and a 50-year member of the American Legion in Willshire.
