Daniel W. Shaffner, 77, Passes at Home of Son

Daniel Webster Shaffner, 77, died at the home of a son, Arlie, 710 South Fourteenth street, last night at 9:45 o'clock from complications. He had been in failing health for some time.

Mr. Shaffner was born in Wilshire, Ohio, on March 3, 1859, the son of Dr. and Mrs. John Shaffner. He had resided here since 1898.

He was united in marriage to Arminta Bates and one son, Arlie was born to this union. Mrs. Shaffner died in 1927.

The aged man who worked at the plant of the Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corporation here for a period of thirty-one years is survived by his son; a sister, Mrs. Catherine Brocks, Stillwater, Oklahoma; two half brothers, William Shaffner of Michigan and Paul Shaffner of Wilshire, Ohio; and four half sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Protestant Church with Rev. E. L. Ferris in charge. Burial will be in the city cemetery beside the body of his wife.

The body was removed from the Clark Chapel to the son's home this afternoon.
