My branch of the Smithee family only knew this person as 'Alex' before we found the name Jessee A. Smithee on the 1860 Census, and the 1900 Census which lists him as Alexander Smitha/Smithee, and the 1930 Marion Co., Arkansas Census which lists him as Alex Smithee.

In an attempt to clarify, I am re-naming this memorial with ALL of the possible NAME variations for Jessie/Jesse/Chester/Chesley/Chelie Alexander 'Alex' Smithee (1876 - 1930), which I believe is supported by my research and the following sources:
--his gravestone simply shows him as Alex Smithee;
--some branches of the Smithee family list him as Jessie Alexander Chelie Smithee;
--while other branches of the Smithee family list him as Chester/Chesley Alexander Smithee;
--the Marriage License/Certificate between 'Alex' and #1 Fannie (Turnee/Turney) dated 07-07-1901, and between 'Alex' and #2 Manda/Mandy Louella 'Ella/Eller' (O'Daniel) on 02-05-1914, EACH list him as C.A. Smithee;
--homestead warranty deeds and notarized legal documents dated 07-1911 and 08-1913 EACH list him as Chesley Smithee;
--one of his son's middle name was Chesley;
--and perhaps the most compelling evidence, in 2015, 'Alex's last living daughter states she has only EVER known her father as Chester Alex Smithee.

'Alex' and his one to three possible wives, and up to 14 total children have proved to be as difficult to pinpoint as his actual name.

Although RootsWeb lists another marriage to Annie Unknown, I have yet to confirm this marriage, so I will only list the two wives and the children I have confirmed in my most current research:
