‘Fate' was the son of George Washington Smithy/Smithee AND Ann/Anna/Annie Louise/Louisa (Garrison).

‘Fate' married Thurza Jane (Anderson) (1855-1931) on 03-11-1875 Stone Co., AR.

According to the 1900 Census of Hampton, Marion Co. AR., Lafayette Smitha (James Lafayette 'Fate' Smithee) and his wife, Jane (Thurza Jane) had 12 children but only 7 were living, including:

1. Jessie Alexander 'Alex' Smithee, aka Chester/Chesley/Chelie Alexander 'Alex' Smithee, 1876–1930); married #1 Fannie Belle (Turney); married #2 Annie Unknown - this marriage CAN NOT be proven; married #2 Manda/Mandy Louella 'Ella/Eller' O'Daniel.

2. Andrew Jackson Smithee (1878–1937); married #1 Lucinda J. Summers; married #2 Mary 'Barto' Bate (Stephens) – they had 04 children; married #3 Malissa Jane 'Lis' (McEntire.
NOTE: Andrew's gravestone incorrectly lists 1887 as birth date, which should be 1877.

3. Martha Elizabeth (Smithee) ((Luke)) ((Tyler)); born 1879 AR; died 1966 OK; married #1 Isaac Luke; married #2 Isaac Reeves Tyler.

4. George Washington Smithee (1883–1972); married Cora Jane (Huskey). Moved to Washington state.

5. Amanda Loucinda Louisa Bell 'Minda' (Smithee) ((Graves)); born 11-23-1884 AR; d 07-28-1979 Tulsa, OK; married Thomas Benton Graves. According to the 1940 Census, 'Minda', her husband Thomas, and her father, James L. 'Fate' Smithee were living in Wagoner, Wagoner Co., OK.

6. Hersie/Hersey/Hessie (Smithee) ((Johnson)); born 09-1891 AR; d 02-1939; married Charles Arthur Johnson.

7. Jane/Janie E. (Smithee) (1887–1969); married Hester Manley Norvell on 06-09-1932.
End 07 children of James Lafayette 'Fate' AND Thurza Jane (Anderson) Smithee.

After Thurza's death in 1931, 'Fate' moved to Oklahoma to live with daughter 'Minda' and her husband Thomas B. Graves, in Wagoner, Wagoner Co., OK, until his death in 1940.
