Arthur Adams Struck By Auto After Driver Hits Snowbank

SKOWHEGAN, Feb. 13 - Arthur Adams, 15, of Madison, was fatally injured near his home at Twelve Corners about 6 o'clock tonight when he was struck by an automobile drivrn by Richard Van Sicklin of Bingham. Adams died shortly after the accident with injuries consisting of two fractures of the vertabrae and a badly cut right cheek.
The driver of the car told investigating authorities that in driving down the hill he saw the boy pushing a sled in the road and that he drove the car into a snow bank to avoid striking the youth but the car swung around, the rear end hitting the lad.
State Trooper Sherman Hallowell said that the Adams boy had just started out to deliver weekly papers to customers on a route which he had established.
County Medical Examiner Walter S. Stinchfield, Sheriff Martin J. Gallant and State Trooper Hallowell of Skowhegan were the investigating officers.
Adams was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Adams and was one of a family of several children.

Funeral service for Arthur E. Adams, aged 15 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Adams, who was killed in an accident Thursday about 6 o'clock near his home will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home at Twelve Corners. Dr. George Merriam, pastor of yhe Bethany Baptist church, Skowhegan, will officiate. The remains will be placed in the tomb at the South cemetery, Skowhegan, to await burial.
