Vaughn Hammond, 86, passed away November 30, 2003. He was born July 23, 1917 in Lake Point, Utah to William and Jerusha Ann Garrard Hammond. Attended Lake Point and Grantsville schools. Went to work at Kennecott Copper Corp. in 1937 until enlisting in the US Air Force December 19, 1941. He received an honorable discharge in 1945 and returned to work at Kennecott as a carpenter until retirement in 1977.
Married Dorothy Shosted October 1946. Vaughn built his new family home in Lake Point and from that time on has been doing things to improve it. Vaughn and Dorothy enjoyed going south for the winter in their trailer.
Survived by wife, Dorothy; sons, Bud (Janet), West Valley City; Dick (Delpha), Mesquite, NV; grandchildren, Vaughn (Nancy) Shosted, West Jordan; Shelly (Guy) West, Taylorsville; Stacey (Rocky) Chatwin, Fairfield; Time (Patty) Tooele; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Hammond; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Thelma, Ruby and Hattie; brothers, Willard and Lloyd.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South. Friends and family may call Thursday, 12:30-1:30 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Graham Humphreys name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Utah, 151 East 5600 South, Murray, Utah 84107.
