Fred J. Bernherdt died Saturday afternoon at his home, corner of Salem and 19th Street, after an extended illness with a complication of diseases. A widow and one son survive.
Deceased was born in Attica on May 24, 1857, and came to this city when quite young. He was a member of the police force at one time and was well and favorably known. He was a genial gentleman and ossessed many excellent traits of character. The funeral took place from the family residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Rev. E.D. Kiefel officiating. Interment in Springvale cemetery. Lafayette Evening Call August 8, 1898.
