Following an illness of several months with a complication of diseases, Mrs. Sarah Bernhardt, widow of Frank J. Barnhardt (sic), died at 6:25 o'clock this morning at the family residence, 1334 Ferry street. She was born November 11, 1830 at Manchenbein, Kirchheinbolden, Rheinbayern, Germany.

She came to the United States in 1854, and for four years lived at Attica. Mrs. Bernhardt had lived in Lafayette since 1858. Her husband died a number of years ago. Mrs. Bernhardt was a woman of noble character and was admired for her somanly qualities. She was a member of the German Evangelical church and during her long life was the author of many kind deeds. She was an ideal mother and a kind neighbor. One son John ?.Bernhardt, survives. She also leaves two grandchildren, Frank and Bernice Bernhardt.

The funeral will be held from the residence Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Albert J. Beutenmueller, will officiate, with interment in Springvale cemetery. The service will be public, but the burial private. Friends are requested to omit flowers.
